The Catholic Charismatic Renewal this year hosts its 42nd annual Catholic Charismatic Renewal Conference scheduled for May 5th– 7th, 2023 under the theme “IN THE WORLD YOU WILL HAVE HARDSHIPS; BUT BE COURAGEOUS I HAVE CONQUERED THE WORLD”.(John 16:33). The Conference will be held at the Good Will Parish Hall and commences at 6:00pm on Friday May 5th, 2023.
The Service Team met and after prayerful guided reflection, the above scripture passage emerged from which the theme was developed. Discussion on the passage by team members led us to reflect upon the fact that there are many uncertainties in the world today which result in hardships of one kind or another. These hardships are in various forms and do have certain impact on individuals and society as a whole.
It is reasonable to conclude that there are visible signs of those hardships including economic, spiraling prices and shortages of basic items and challenges in the family and even the church. There are individuals who suffer from certain injustices, the poor and marginalized are submerged in poverty and seemingly have no voice. Disasters are occurring, war is raging and the pandemic has brought about suffering and deaths.
The turbulent waters of life are raging to the extent that many are very fearful and losing hope. Amidst the storms of life the Lord keeps steering the ship to safety and victory though at times unnoticeable. He says to us be not afraid, persevere as He is in control of everything including all hardships and misfortunes and further assures us that we will overcome.
The overall theme of the Conference is meant to bring God’s children to a fuller realization that hardships and setbacks do exist; but God reassures us to be courageous, persevere, do not fear and have faith in Him for we will overcome.
A team of three Guest Speakers has been selected by the Service Team. The speakers and talks allocated are as follow:
- “IN THE WORLD YOU WILL HAVE HARDSHIPS; BUT BE COURAGEOUS I HAVE CONQUERED THE WORLD” – Fr. Raymond Francis- Trinidad
- “JESUS IS IN THE MIDST OF YOUR STORM”- Fr. Conan Shillingford
- “THE HOLY SPIRIT ENABLES YOU TO ENDURE”- Mrs. Mayna Scotland Andrew
- “GO FORTH WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUORERS”- Fr. Raymond Francis
One should be minded that the overall objective of the Conference is to bring God’s children to a fuller realization that various hardships and setbacks do exist but God reassures us to be courageous, persevere, do not fear and have faith in Him for we will overcome.
A number of activities are scheduled among which are general assembly talks, celebration of the sacraments, testimonies and a healing service.
The Conference closes on Sunday May 7th, 2023 at 3pm with the celebration of the Eucharist.
Participation is encouraged as many benefits will be accrued including spiritual growth.
